Many people think that they should be able to clean and organize their house on their own. It seems like such a simple thing, right?
However, these tasks are not simple to everyone. People have their strengths and weaknesses, and asking and receiving help is 100% okay!
I work with my organizing clients at a pace that is comfortable for them. They are capable of organizing, for sure–but sometimes having the extra push of an expert helps ensure that the organizing gets done.
The same goes for children and cleaning up. Children are not born with a clean up instinct. Cleaning up is a skill–it must be learned, honed and continually done with guidance.
Asking a child to “clean their room” might sound to them like an insurmountable task. Taking a section of their room and focusing on putting things away WITH them can helpthe process seem more doable.
